Chamlis is a minor character in The Player of Games by Iain M. Banks. I pronounce it in accordance with the audiobook, the IPA for which is, I believe, /t͡ʃæm.lɪs/. Less formally, it is pronounced as if the word “chalice” had an extra “m”, forming the fictitious English word “chamlice”.
